Visit to BeBig company



As a part of our program this is our 4th visit for an interview with CD user’s .We met Mr. Murali of "BEBIG Company" who are manufacturers and suppliers of medical equipment for cancer hospitals and they are also abundant users of CDs .
         
 These are the questions we asked:- 
               
 1) How many CDs are bought per year/month?
                                      
 Around 300 approx CDs are used when they go for large meetings.
          
 2) How many CDs get wasted per year/month?

It’s not only CDs, all e-waste like batteries, printer cartridges (25apprx cartridges) get wasted            
3) How many CDs get recycled per years/month? 

 He told us that he is looking for someone who will come and collect all the waste . At the present all the waste materials is dumped in a cupboard.

4) How much do you spend on buying CDs? 
               
 He answered us that when there is a need .They buy it. So we could not get an exact figure.

5) Do you use any other alternative for CDs which are more cheap and eco friendly? 

  He says that he prefers CDs as they are less in cost compared to other alternatives.

6) Do you know about the hazard in manufacturing CDs? 

  He wasn't very aware of the hazard in manufacturing or usage of CDs 

7) For what purpose do you mainly use CDs?  

  We use CDs for large meetings.

8) Do have any idea about the experience of other companies which also use CDs?

8) Do you have any message for us in relation to manufacture, usage , recycle and disposal of  CDs ?

   He suggested us to conduct awareness programs in public.

    Our learning process:

He actually asked us as to why we are looking at CDs disposal alone. He said it would be much better if we had a look at all other e waste being dumped. He also drew are attention to batteries and its toxic content and about disposal of batteries

In spite of his busy schedule he was kind enough to spare some time and answer all our questions. We thanked him for taking the trouble and sharing his thoughts with us.
